Proper care is essential for healthy healing.
Healing Times
Daily Cleaning Routine
Wash hands thoroughly before touching your piercing
Clean twice daily using sterile saline solution or pre-made wound wash (no additives)
Use clean gauze or cotton pad soaked in saline—gently compress for 5-10 minutes if crust has built up
Pat dry with clean paper towel or let air dry—avoid cloth towels (they harbor bacteria)
Things to Avoid
Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or harsh antiseptics
Ointments (they trap bacteria)
Makeup, lotions, or perfumes near the piercing
Touching the piercing unnecessarily
Pools, lakes, hot tubs for at least 4 weeks
Sleeping on the piercing (especially ears)
Changing jewelry too soon—wait until fully healed
Tight clothing or pressure on body piercings
For Oral Piercings (Tongue, Lip)
Rinse mouth 4-5x daily with alcohol-free mouthwash or sea salt rinse
Avoid spicy, acidic, or hot foods during initial healing
No smoking, alcohol, or kissing for at least 2 weeks
Stay hydrated and eat soft, cool foods early on

Even after healing, continue gentle cleaning weekly and keep jewelry in to avoid closure
